| YORK - STAY FOR LESS "££" |
|
YORK , in the North of England, was started as a Roman Fort on the River Ouse in 71AD & called “Eboracum”. After the Romans left in 410 the Anglo Saxons took over & built the first wooden Church to St Paul in 627. Vikings then invaded & captured York in 868, later to be defeated by the Danes in 1066 under King Harold. Harold was then killed in Battle of Hastings in 1066 by the French /Norman King William the Conqueror. So York has a very Historic past with many monuments & structures to show.
