GREAT
OCEAN ROAD (VIC)(GOR) is a major Australian Scenic Coastal
Route which faces onto the Bass Straight & Southern Ocean which
bears up from the cold reaches of the Antarctica Continent. GOR
starts at Geelong S/West of Melbourne & ends at Portland. The
route then continues into South Australia State via Mount Gambier
& The Coorongs to Adelaide the Capital. The whole journey provides
many spectacular features to gasp at & leaves you with vivid
memories to treasure.

charming seaside town. Use this hostel on the alternate GOR tour
route from Adelaide to Melbourne.
FOOD
for this journey needs to be bought in advance in Melbourne, as
no convenient food shopping diversions are made on the tour other
than briefly at cafes, longer stops being given to views as a priority.
The overnight hostel also has a reasonable evening meal so all that
is really needed are lunch snacks for the journey & regular
top up’s of your water bottle on the way.
TRAVELLING
AROUND –
Undoubtabley the best way to get the maximum advantage of the GOR
is to drive by car so you can stop at all the treats. The second
best is to take one of the many organised tours, preferably in a
smaller 20-seater coach, where you can get to know your fellow travellers
better. In GB’s case a Greyhound 2day tour from Mel. To Adel.
was selected with overnight stay at Warrnambool, there are also
journeys in the opposite direction. A group of 16 passengers was
on board, which worked out well as we soon got to know each other,
plus driver Ron who was a great guide.
