GLASGOW - STAY FOR LESS "£S"

GLASGOW is Scotlands second City, located on the River Clyde, gateway to the Western Highlands & Islands & an ideal stopping point before venturing on. It was once known as the centre of the world for shipbuilding but, alas, this industry has long gone. Regeneration of the area, however, as a world arts centre & the recognition of architectural merits of the City, is helping to put Glasgow back on the travellers map. GB tells you how to get the most from your stay!

ACCOMMODATION near to the City Centre and shopping areas are found at the following GBinspected hostels:

N01 -Glasgow International Hostel, SYHA, at 7/8 Park Terrace, G3 6BY (West of centre in buildings conservation area) tele 0141 332 3004 - £12 pn. b&b incl. sheets in dorms. Self-catering kitchen with all equipment (microwave oven, fridge etc.) dining room, NON SMOKE lounge & TV room. A good location for relaxation & in a building with lots of character.

RESERVE - EURO Hostel at 318 Clyde Street, G1 4NR ( New in town 2000, looks over River Clyde close to City centre) tele 0141 222 2828 Email: info@euro-hostels.com - £13.75 pn. b&b dorms. Self - catering area with microwave oven SMOKE. Originally a 4* hotel, now converted, in an ideal location next to the river for all the City sights & meeting other world travellers.

FOOD for self - caterers, is to be found in a couple of City centre supermarkets ie Somerfields in Howard Street ( round the corner from EURO) Iceland in Sauchiehall Street ( within a Littlewoods store) both good for quality/value provisions.

TRAVELLING AROUND the City by walking is the best way to see the unique features of the architecture & history but for outlying areas the bus & rail systems are quite extensive. A good free map is available from the information centres showing all places of interest & how to get there.
