GENEVA is the Smart City of Switzerland & Capital of the smallest of 26 Cantons, located in the far West on the shores of Glorious Lake Geneva. Its Icon landmark is JET D EAU a spectacular Fountain spouting a forceful 140 mtrs into the air, above the Harbour. The City is relatively small in size, however, its prominence on the World Scene is great with the Major Institutions ie. United Nations, Red Cross & others based here.

NO1 AUBERGE DE JEUNESSE (YHA) at 30 Rue Rothschild (an easy 500mtr walk from the Central Rail Station) tele +41 (0) 22 732 6260 www.yh-geneva.ch - SF29 bed in 6x dorms, with good buffet breakfast, sep showers & wc's. Large reception, sitting, Internet, café & eating areas on ground floor but no self-catering facilities, a TV/ games room in basement & an outside Patio. This is a well run, well positioned Hostel close to Lake Geneva .
Reserve City Hostel, at 2 Rue Ferrier (only 300mtr along same road as YHA) tele +41(0) 22 901 1500 www.cityhostel.ch - SF31in 4x dorms (but no breakfast). with shower/wc's on all floors. Free Kitchen facilities with microwave, TV room, Internet & Laundry. Again a good Hostel but in a side street & not as open as YHA.
FOOD is found in main Supermarkets along the Rue de Lausanne (to/ from Rail Station) No1 is COOP on Main Street (for 45c Swiss Chocolate bars) & No2 MIGROS in basement of a large Shopping Centre both pricey though!
TRAVELLING AROUND from the Airport its Bus #10 (3SF) & into the City, then you can take advantage of the free GUEST PASS , issued by the Hostel, to allow free travel on all Busses & Trams in & around Geneva, which gets you to more remote places to walk back great!

5. CATHEDRALE ST. PIERRE begun 1160 in peaceful Square, with seats next to #36 Bus Stop
6. PLACE DES NATIONS Tram Stop for UN & RC, with Musical Fountains & Broken Chair
7. LES SCHTROUMPFS 1982 architectural fantasy, behind Le Gare, with Ornate Balcony's
8. MAISON TAVEL 12C & Oldest House, now a Museum with highlight Town Map in Attic
9. PARC LA GRANGE along Lakeside shores boasting 40,000 Rose Bushes & return walk
10. BIBLIOTEC near Old Town with Internet & local interest books & newspapers, to relax
