YORKSHIRE DALES - STAY FOR LESS "££"

YORKSHIRE DALES NATIONAL PARK, is another unique area in the North of England formed after the last Ice Age & shaped into a special geological LIMESTONE landscape . This type of rock erodes quite easily with the result that amazing pavements & outcrops have been caused above ground with deep caves & potholes below. Again, in covering this region GB gives you a "Special YD Trail" to access the Dales & see the highlights.

NO 1 INGLETON YHA in Sammy Lane (just up “No Through Road “from the Market Square) tele 0870 770 5880 Email: ingleton@yha.org.uk - £14 pn. in 58 beds, all 4& 6 bedded. Self – catering kitchen & meals provided. This was a basic hostel when GB last visited so the news that it has been refurbished since is welcome. It should now be the best! Check it out for me - thank

FOOD for self – caterers in Malham use the Village or Hostel shop for basics , Hawes has a good COOP Supermarket & you must try the local Wensleydale Cheese, Ingleton – again this larger town has a COOP Supermarket for all provisions

TRAVELLING AROUND – for this GB "Special YD Trail" starts & ends in Leeds, which has main UK Rail & Road links. From Leeds there are regular Rail or Bus services to Skipton. From here transport is limited with only 2 daily services to Malham, early & late. Then onto Hawes you have to return to Skipton to try & get a Bus to Hawes GB has done considerable research & there is no reasonable public transport to get to Hawes From Hawes to Ingleton & then back to Leeds is more possible but limited services does not allow you to break the journeys at special spots so spoils the whole adventure. So GB's conclusion, to get a true & memorable experience of the Yorkshire Dales, is to hire or take your own transport.
